Frequent Fliers
$425.00
Pelicans catch flying fish through a kelp forest, where looking down into the water and up into the air becomes the same wonder.
About the Work
Frequent Fliers moves through a kelp forest where pelicans hunt flying fish that refuse to stay politely underwater. Birds glide above the surface while fish break through it, sending bodies accustomed to different worlds briefly into the same air.
The viewpoint moves with them. We seem to look down into the water and up toward the sky at once, following kelp, fish and birds through a landscape whose boundaries have become uncertain. Pelicans fly. Fish fly. For a moment the remarkable thing isn’t that either can, but that the world contains both.
