four seasons for reasons divides a year into four unruly systems. Each season assembles its own version of a repeating set of icons: a card suit, receiving and sending forms of communication, dominant and supporting animals, weather, adjustable tools, a musical instrument, a body part, a professional field, an artistic expression and a means of human mobility.

Spring, at upper left, begins with the audacity of gravity, the simplicity of film and the work of navigating toward summer. Summer arrives at upper right with the aggression of passion. It bellows, demands attention and produces an abundance that begins to pay off what spring set in motion.

Fall settles into the lower right with the calmer disposition of a scientific mind. It observes the other seasons, documents their behavior and preserves what it finds for posterity, including the doves that emerge from that transmission. Winter, at lower left, turns toward constructing environments, where rigorous art and haphazard improvisation coexist and somehow vibe with the rest of the year.

Across all four, the repeated categories create a common grammar while their changing forms give each season its own logic, temperament and reasons.
